Mosston School grounds

Mosston School is a state school, with a decile 5 rating (mid-range socio economic families), situated on the North Western boundary of Wanganui adjacent to the suburb of Springvale. We are a friendly family school in a semi-rural setting. The country atmosphere of our school is maintained by regular interschool fixtures held with nearby country schools. Mosston School delivers quality education to year 0-6 students. We listen closely to our school community and incorporate the values of our community in our curriculum planning

Although most of our families reside in the neighbouring suburb of Springvale, we also enrol pupils from the wider community, but we are subject to a Ministry of Education Enrolment Scheme. This means we are obliged to give first preference of enrolment to children living within our zone.  The school roll ranges to a maximum of 160 children with our optimal number being 155. We operate 6 classrooms, which are often composite classes covering 2 year groups. We have excellent facilities and access to more in the immediate vicinity of the school.

Our children look smart in their uniform which is purchased though Postie Plus. Sample of the uniform can be seen by clicking here.

A wide range of sporting and cultural activities are available to children because of our close proximity to the main centre. We join with a cluster of 6 other primary schools in our area for many mutually beneficial activities such as sports and leadership training.

Most of our children are driven to school, so after much lobbying we now operate a reduced speed zone outside our school during the busy hours before and after school. Also we are now very fortunate to have a brand new car park inside our school gates.
