Enrolment Schemes and Ballots

Some Whanganui schools operate enrolment zones in order to manage the number of pupils attending their school. Each of these schools has a home zone as agreed between the Ministry of Education, the affected school and surrounding schools. Children who live permanently in this home zone have automatic right of entry into that school providing their family supply evidence to support their residential address.

Families who live outside the home zones can apply for a space at their preferred school or schools and fall under the ballot process which is usually held once a year around the end of September. Apart from some priority candidiates the ballot is a random draw. Please click here to find out more.

The following schools have enrolment zones:
Durie Hill School ph 06 345 5946
Kai Iwi School ph 06 342 9823
Kaitoke School ph 06 345 0474
Mosston School ph 06 345 5432
St John’s Hill School ph 06 349 1750
Westmere School ph 06 345 6919

Enrolment zone boundaries can be found at here: https://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/find-school

The 2022 ballot for 2023 spaces has been carried out.
The 2023 ballot for 2024 spaces will take place in September so pre enrolments should ideally be in by the end of August. (The September cut off date has not yet been set).
